Body Piercing
Body piercings has been around for at least 5,000 years. Only the most royal and wealthy of Egyptians were pierced. It also served purpose in battle to frighten the opponent in some tribes. In central and south America it was looked upon as extremely attractive for women to not only pierce the lip, but, to also stretch it to a very large size and place wooden plates into the hole. It is also said that a sailor with a pierced ear could improve thier long distance site.

For whatever reason there was in the past to perform this body modification, it is a thing that has not gone away like a distant memory. Anywhere you look you can see a person who has pierced a nostril and adorned it with a tiny diamond stud or a hoop curling around a lip. More extreme and yet still as common you can see the eyebrows adorned with spikes. For a more intimate look, behind the bedroom door, there are several ways to modify the body with piercings in an attempt to heighten the sexual experience, nipples get pierced and decorated as do genitals get altered and pierced.

More recent, in the last 10 years, or so, it has become much more common to pierce and stretch the ear lobes, sometimes even using a scapel to cut away excess skin to achieve the size we want to perfectly modify the body to our own personal needs and wants.

As with any other body modification, there are safety standards to follow. We all have an obligation to practice all safety standards, wether it be the individual who performs the modification or the person who recieves the mod. Although it is slowly becoming more acceptable in mainstream to express yourself through tattoo and-or piercing, or both at the same time, there is still some judgement passed and always will be on this choice to modify the body. One person will find you repulsive and another irresistable.
